1 Month Check-up
Eleanor weighs 9lbs 7 oz and is 21 1/8 inches. She is in the 50% for height, weight and head circumference.
She has fallen into a somewhat predictable routine.. She goes to bed between 7 and 8 and sleeps soundly till between 12 and 1 AM and then starts making grunting sounds and sucks on her shirt sleeves (but is not awake) and I feed her and then she starts grunting again 2 hours later and then pretty much for the rest of the night till 7 or 8 she does the wax on wax off thing with her arms and squirms and sounds like Snoopy. I adjust everything imaginable to try to make her quiet down, without waking her (I've done that before and it's not pretty) but she is just a noisy sleeper. After that 2:30ish feeding I don't really get good sleep b/c of the noise (Is she awake? Is she hungry? Is she too wet? Is she too hot? Is she cold? Is she pooping? Can she breath okay?)...but I know this is a newborn thing (and a mom thing) and it will end soon enough.
She wakes for the day between 7 and 8 and I change her diaper and outfit and feed her and try to "play" with her for about 30 min and then I put her in the swing and she falls asleep till 11ish. Then I change her diaper, nurse her and try to interact as much as I can before she gets fussy and wants to go back to sleep, which is usually 30min to an hour later. Then she sleeps all afternoon in a bed till around 5ish and I change her, feed her and then she fusses (and sometimes screams) till we get her to sleep around 7. This is when we rock, bounce, pat, shush, etc. for at least an hour. Many times though she just lays in bed with Justin and sucks on his finger for an hour.
It's not awesome but again, we realize how quickly this time passes.

Sleeping siblings...
Sleeping siblings...
I try the pacifier now and then to see if she'll take it (instead of nursing when I know she's not hungry) and it worked the other day. Yay for small successes.
It's nice to have a baby you don't have to swaddle. And one who will sleep wherever you put her. Same goes for the toddler. He's pretty great too.
Wow...4 weeks old already...
Eleanor took it easy on me/us yesterday. She slept easily all day and night without a fussy-time before bed last night. She was awake maybe 4 hours total (spread out) yesterday.
She is starting to look bigger to me now. We have our 4 week exam tomorrow so we'll find out.
She's got Henry's hair. She's going to be blond, after all. And her eyes are very very dark so they will most definitely not stay blue. She's starting to look more and more like Henry everyday.

We'll just never know...
For several months now...at least six, when you put Henry's shoes on him he always always always says the exact same thing, and we do not know what it means.
"Are you white? Yeah, I'm white."
Every time.
"Are you white? Yeah, I'm white."
Every time.

He won't wear a coat or see a doctor...
Not Henry, but Henry's father...who had an iron fall from the shelf several feet above him, and land bluntly on top of his head, causing blood to immediately spurt out like a water hose, soaking his shirt and the floor and several towels since then. And then of course leaving gory images on his pillow-case in the morning.
If you see him, feel free to pop him on that gunshot-wound like gash on the back of his head and tell he should have gotten stitches.
