I am 29 weeks along, as of yesterday. I have gestational diabetes, again. I had a bit of hope I wouldn't get it but I did. I was looking at my pregnancy journal from when I was this far along with Henry and it's so funny to me how everything is going exactly the same. I even weigh the same as I did last time (well, I weigh 1 lb less). I had a charlie horse last night, the first one this pregnancy and also the same week as I had them last time around. And my blood sugar is now just beginning to get wacky. It's only slightly elevated right now. For instance, you want to be under 90 when you wake up and I am in the mid 90's. The rest of the day you want to be under 130 and I am in the 90's or low 100's, so still very good and not an issue but that's because I am eating a diet of meat, eggs, veggies and peanut butter (basically). If I were to have more than about 40-50 carbs in one meal my numbers would be elevated, but not more than 140. But still, they are very cautious. I know most diabetics would love to have my numbers but I guess they get super strict when it's pregnancy related. My daytime numbers will always be good as long as I do this diet but I will, eventually, not be able to do anything about my overnight blood sugar (unless I get up at 1 AM and exercise or eat half a chicken) and I will have to take medication again. My OB almost guarenteed it yesterday at her office.
But other than that, everything is fine. I feel pretty good. No complaints.

I found my infant medical record...
Had I been born more recently I think most moms would have panicked over my slow development, but my mom said it wasn't like that back then.
Term= 34 weeks (I was early)
Weight = 5lb 1oz (although I've seen elsewhere it say 4 lbs 11oz) (Henry 8lbs 3 oz)
APGAR = 6-9 ) (Henry 9-10)
Sat up: 10 1/4 months (Henry 4 1/2 mos)
Rolled over: 6 months
Stood: 12 1/2 months (Henry--Stood on own w/o holding anything at 9 months)
Walked: 17 months (Henry 12 1/2 mos)
First teeth: 11 months
Words: 16 months (Henry 10-11 mos)
Sentences: 18 months
Potty trained: 2 1/2 yrs
I already don't remember when Henry got his first teeth, stood or rolled over. Glad I have this blog.:-)

Poop...
Justin and I have a very laid back approach to potty training. It's called laziness. We have no desire to do it. I have issues with public restrooms and am not quite ready to deal with "I have to go to the bathroooooooooooom." I'm sort of dreading that time, actually. Diapers are awesome. Simple, clean, easy and taken care of at my convenience.
The other issue is most kids by age 3 are very ready so I figure why rush it? Why deal with accidents and frustration and long weeks of training when I can get it over with in a weekend when he's older. Also, there's the issue of regression following the intro of a new baby to the family. Henry will be exactly 2 yrs 6 months when Eleanor gets here, so I figured waiting till after she was born would be perfect. That way no regression.
But, Henry seems interested, which is foiling all my plans. He has a potty seat that goes over the toilet, which he calls the big potty and he has an Elmo potty chair that sits on the floor, which he calls the little potty. Everyone in his class is older than him. Ages 2 1/2 to 3 so they are all potty training and some are even trained. So at school, he sits on the potty 2-3 times a day and is more than happy to--it's just part of their routine. Sometimes he pees too, before his bath, and it's just become a regular thing for him to do, without either of us noticing or feeling like we've begun potty training.
After Henry woke up this morning we went to the kitchen to make breakfast and he told me he had to go poo-poo. I thought he meant he went poo-poo so I put him on the changing table and he FREAKED out screaming that he wanted to sit on the potty. I took off his diaper and saw no poo poo and then put him on the potty and he pooped! Mid-way through he got off so he could check it out and then he sat back down to finish the job. He insisted on wiping all by himself and then he flushed.
He was VERY proud of himself. He wanted to tell his daddy so we called him at work and he relayed the whole story.
