I haven't written anything for a while so I figured now that Henry is a 1 year old, I probably should. He is doing well. He's very smiley and silly. He likes to play games, especially in his crib (anything to delay going to sleep). He likes to take his pacifier out and hand it to me for me to put it back in his mouth...over and over again. He likes to kneel down and then pop back up and when he goes up he says "UP!". He's also learning the meaning of "open" and "close", so that's exciting. But his favorite words
by far are 'da-da' and 'no'.
He's been giving lots of hugs lately and his version of kisses. "Mommy doesn't want a French kiss Henry, but thank you." He likes to giggle and snuggle, so that's nice. He can play by himself if I am in the room and he likes to use most anything as a conduit for walking (laundry baskets etc.)
He eats like a horse. At his birthday party I gave him a salmon burger and he ate the whole thing. That was his first taste of fish. He loves avocados, loves any fruit, especially frozen blueberries. He just got his first taste of juice last week and he seems to like it but is somewhat skeptical. Seems confused by drinking anything other than water from a cup. He eats peas like crazy and really anything you put in front of him, EXCEPT a dairy product. It's amazing how babies know what they need. He is (finally confirmed) allergic to milk. I've tried to get him to eat cheese and yogurt for months now and he refused, which is the only food he's really refused (except when he's sick and he wants nothing to do with food). I poured a glass of cow's milk recently and gave it to him and within 2 minutes his entire face was covered in hives.
Henry weighs 25.7 oz and he's 31 1/8 inches long. I actually think he's taller than that but the nurse was new and I didn't want to give her a hard time about her measuring skillz.
Henry still goes to bed at 6 although lately it's been more like 6:30. He wakes up between 2-4 and we nurse and he goes back to sleep till sometime between 6-7:15. He takes two naps. One at 9 and the other at 1. The AM nap is either 40 min. or 1 hr and 15 in long (you never know..it's about half and half) and the PM nap is at least 1 hr 15 min and at most it's 2 hours. Today I got 2 hours--woohooo!
Henry loves the cat. Kitty seems to return the love but he's not as enthusiastic. Especially when Henry bites him.
I am still staying at home with him...not sure how much longer...we don't have a definitive plan yet. Our weeks go by pretty fast--I have a schedule of stuff we do depending on the day of the week. Each week we go to the children's museum, two playgroups, one regular "play-date", a music show or story time, the grocery store, Family Connections (it's a toy lending library/play area), local parks to swing, crawl or SWIM!, and typically a friend comes over or we visit someone or we run other miscellaneous errands like shopping or going to the bank. Dad comes home everyday at lunch and then home for good by 4, so that's nice. Sometimes we go to the farmer's market or out to eat (Henry LOVES to go out to eat--he's a people watcher).
Henry poops once a day. Everyday. After nap 1 usually.
Okay, that about sums it up. You're all up to date.
