Last night I was brushing Henry's teeth and I caught a glimpse of FOUR molars coming in. The two on the top are mostly in and the ones on the bottom were 30% cutting. The tips are all above ground, but a glob of gummy skin is balled up over most of them still. It looks really painful but I had no idea he was getting them. His sleep has been normal, temperament normal, but he has been sucking on his entire hand lately, which he's never done before (and now I know why). He crams his fingers all the way back there and just gnaws on them.
The funny thing is that the test results from his week of diarrhea came up with nothing. No virus, no parasites. Obviously something caused him to poop 7 times a day for a week and now I'm kind of wondering if it was those molars. Most doctors say that's BS but every mother I know swears that teething causes all kinds of otherwise unexplainable ailments. The other thing is Henry got a random runny nose for 1 day while he had diarrhea and I was totally perplexed b/c we had not left the house at all for days when he got it, and Justin and I didn't catch it. It was so strange--the whole thing.
Also strange was this morning when I went in to get Henry out of his crib. He woke around 7 and was calling for me and he was all happy and chipper till he tried to stand up and then he screamed and cried, "Mama pick up!" and he told me his foot hurt. I figured it had just fallen asleep or he slept on it funny but after AN HOUR of his refusing to stand on it and whimpering when he tried, I knew it was not pins and needles. I called Justin at work and he spoke to a co-worker and called me back saying it was probably growing pains. What the? Growing pains? He told me to rub it and kiss it and give Henry some Highlands aches and pains tablets (these homeopathic sugar pills/placebos (says Diane the skeptic--although I do swear by their teething tablets). Anyway, I rubbed some magic fairy dust on Henry's foot, gave him the candy, I mean pills, and to my incredible surprise, it worked. He walked with a limp for about 20 minutes and then he was back to normal.
Henry was very tired tonight and was crying for me after his bath and when we laid down together he told me he was sad "Henry sad" because he was so tired. Yesterday he told me he was "frustrated" b/c he couldn't get the crayons to work like the markers do.
Henry is still calling me "mom". I only get "mama" when he's sad or tired. :-( Mom? Why not mommy? When I close his door at night he says, "Mom mom mom mom" trying to delay the inevitable. And speaking of bedtime routines, he's really picked up on the multiple requests, stringing the routine on as long as it can possibly go. We try to keep it at an hour (bath, brush teeth, jammies, books, cuddle). But snack and drink have been added and not just one drink...several. And not just some crackers, he wants mangoes and papayas and really specific foods. It's gotten pretty funny--and being the suckers we are, we usually comply. Tonight he got banana dipped in granola.
Eleven more days till we know if we're having a boy or a girl. We would know tomorrow but we're going to IL for a week. You can't rob us either b/c we have two house sitters. And I have no pregnant pictures of myself to post b/c Justin never ever takes my picture.
Sometimes I do.
