Everybody loves a fetus

We finally left the house last Wednesday for our first of what will be thousands of visits to our local grocery store, HEB. Luckily Aunt Rachel came with us because Henry was not so sure of himself. He made it all the way to the processed food isles in the middle (where one should cry) and we had to alternate finger duties (he hates the pacifier). Overall he did pretty well but of course HEB is HEB and that means there's like 3 registers open and all lines enable a full complimentary reading of US Weekly. At first I waited in one of the regular lines but Henry started to cry so I did what any mother would do and I went over to the 20 items or less line when I had 28 items--BUT 6 of those items were individually wrapped fruit leather--so the check-out person could just scan one 6 times and boom--we only add like 5 seconds to the wait. Right?

So with my 5 week old wriggling and whimpering I watch this woman scan my stuff AS SLOWLY as she possibly can and then tells me "Next time you need to go to the regular check out --not the 20 items or less".

Let me just tell you that when I was pregnant HEB employees ALWAYS asked to carry my stuff--always got me in and out, always made nice comments, always did whatever they could to make my life easy --but now that I have an actual child amongst us--I'm invisible. This woman can see I have a fresh new baby who is less helpless than a paraplegic mini-dwarf--- who can only communicate by screaming-- who wants the hell out of the store--but in that case--I get scolded and given THE absolute slowest service I could possibly be given.

  1. Yeah, you should share this information with HEB. They HATE bad press, or anything that could be considered something that may have the slightest possiblity of being leaked to the most unimportant of all press. You will be rewarded.

Henry is the most cutest, freaking adorablist bebe ever. And I am gorgeous twin nieces (so don't tell them, even when he's walking down the aisle with one of them. They are 16 months.).

Hope to see you soon! -Megan

PS - He looks JUST like you.
