At night when I'm rocking Henry in my arms I tell him about his day (after we've sung 3 or 4 songs, including wheels on the bus and of course the alphabet song). After singing I say, "Did you have fun today?"
H: Fun
M:We woke up and we ate oatmeal
H: Oatmeal
M: and we played with trains
H: Trains
M: and we colored and played with play doh.
H Play doh
M: We danced to records and played out side with the big ball.
H: Big ball
M: And we went to story time at the library and saw your friends.
H: Friends
M: And we ate lunch with dada.
H: Lunch with dada.
M: You had avocado and an orange
H: Avocado and orange
M: and you took a nap
H: took a nap
M: and then we read books
H: read books
M: and we went to the playground and saw your friends
H: Friends
M: and then we came home and had dinner with dada and kitty
H: Dinner with dada and kitty
M: You ate rice and chicken and carrots and broccoli
H: broccoli
M:and then you took a bath with dada.
H: Bath with dada
M: and then we read books and now we're drinking milk and rocking
H:drinking milk and rocking
And then after all of this we rock in silence and Henry will say "More talking." and I will say, "It's time for sleeping. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh". After a few more rocks, Henry points to the crib. (or I get tired of rocking and I say, "Dada" towards the monitor, and dada trades with me. He usually gets the job done pretty quickly.
