The Capital Of Texas Zoo...

was really a lot of fun. This might be my new favorite place but it's a little far away. About 12 miles past the airport. But it's such an awesome place and completely random. It's family owned, out in the sticks and it feels like you're in someone's backyard looking at their pet camel and they just happen to also have crocodiles, a lion and a tiger. And HUGE snakes.

My favorite was the pigs. They had just given birth the day before and the piglets were SO CUTE. I don't know for sure but I do not have any memory of ever seeing piglets nursing before. It was adorable. Ugh...I felt so sorry for the mama though. She looked pretty tired and uncomfortable. Perhaps I was projecting though:-)

Seems a little early for this yet...

"Tiger's peeking"

"C'mon Henry. Time to leave the lion alone."

My sweet boy. (I'm not this big yet, it's just my shirt).

Dad shows Henry how to hold his hand flat.
The wallaby has a baby in her pouch!

The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center...

was lame. But Henry liked it.

First burger...

Henry has had bites of our burgers before (once or twice at Phil's ice-house) but he's never had his own. We made turkey burgers on the grill and he devoured his with great zeal. This picture is unfortunately out of focus but you see what I mean...

Pictures from Henry's school...

Every week they have a theme at Henry's school and this past week was dragons. They spent all week building this paper mache dragon and the kids made swords and crowns to wear for Friday's slaying of the dragon. Henry's class was obviously not as active in this part but the 3-4 year olds seemed quite enthused.

Here are some pictures sent to us by Henry's teacher. Most of them aren't that great but you get the idea. She was sweet to send them to us. She's also been sending emails about Henry's morning and that's really nice. He's only there probably 1/3 as much as the other kids (he's like part-time part time) so it makes me happy that despite this he seems very much a part of the class.
Henry, Quinn, and Harper

Henry is particularly fond of his teacher Meagan. I think he likes her b/c of her glasses (reminds him of someone).

Henry's first real haircut...

We had to give Henry his first hair cut around 4 months of age. He had these long strands of hair on the top of his head that were approx. 2 inches longer than any of his other hair. We had to cut it again around 6 or 7 months because he had a mullet and since then I've lost count. We used to shave it with clippers but he HATES the sound--it terrifies him. So Justin began using scissors but we were constantly snipping and cutting it and it was all uneven so finally I decided enough was enough, the boy needed a real haircut by a professional.

Yesterday we wandered over to the Hairs Lair. The owner only cuts children's hair and the place is stocked with toys. It was done in 5 minutes and Henry barely noticed. I paid $20 but I figure you get what you pay for--it's locally owned, we did not have to wait, and there is a wooden toy shoppe and a gelato store right next door, so we made it a pretty fun outing. $2 Tuesdays! Henry got raspberry and I got banana--he finished mine off for me.
