Two stories I forgot about the botanical gardens

I want to write this down so I remember. While Henry and I were lying in the grass of the rose garden, a tiny caterpillar decided to join us. Henry poked his finger at it and said "finger, finger" meaning, c'mon get on my finger. So eventually it did and Henry thought that was great. Then he wanted it on mama's finger and so we did that and then we put him on a leaf back in the grass. And then Henry tried to find him again and crush him but I managed to place him in a safe spot.

On our way out we stopped at the gift shop so I could use the restroom and then I stood by the door of the exit saying, "Henry, come on...time to go." and he popped his little head around the corner and he had at least 10 rubber snakes in his hands--and they were the really jelly gummy kind so they were wiggling all over and he had one around his neck! I said to put the snakes back and he did as I said but when he got to the door I saw he saved one for himself. I asked him to give it to me and he said NO and so then I tried my progressive attachment parenting techniques until they failed and then I just grabbed it from him and put it back. He screamed SNAKE SNAKE SNAKE!!! and began to sob big huge tears and I had to pick him up and he put his tired head on my shoulder and just heaved and heaved. By the time we got to the car it was just a whisper, "snake". And then once in his car seat and reunited with his sheet, all was well again.
