Two and a half....

Henry is now officially 2 and a half years old.

Some things to note: He has developed some fear going to bed at night. I've read this usually occurs between 2 and 3. He's afraid of monsters. It started when he got sick a few weeks ago and we were sleeping with him to keep track of his fever and ever since then he hasn't wanted to sleep alone. For a few weeks we were staying with him in his room till he fell asleep and now we are saying good night but telling him we will be back to check on him. That seems to be working. We check at 5 min. and then 10 min. and then after that he's asleep.

Daylight savings is still messing with us. He really needs to go to bed at 6:30, at the latest but it's hard to make that happen sometimes and we are lucky to get him down by 7. The earlier we get him down, the quicker he falls asleep and the later he sleeps in the morning. If he goes to bed late, he wakes up early. Naps are still around 12 and last about an hour and a half, give or take 15 min.

Henry really likes to sing along to music. He knows a lot of words to a lot of songs. We mostly play music that's appropriate for children but not "children's music", although he does like Raffi and They Might be Giants.

Henry does a really great job keeping mommy and daddy even-tempered. If one of us is getting frustrated (usually driving) he will say, "It's okay. Take a break. Relax. Go like this (and he inhales and exhales)." He must have picked that up at school.

Here's some pictures from our canoe outing this morning. It was in the high 60's and foggy. Perfect Fall day.
